Shot Boundary Detection

A task that identifies scene or camera-shot transitions in video to enable structural video analysis.

Shot boundary detection is one of the key first steps in splitting video into meaningful units. It is highly important for scene analysis, video summarization, content indexing, and media archiving. Hard cuts, soft transitions, and stylized effects can make the task challenging. It transforms video from a raw stream into a structured media object.
