Re-Identification

A task that enables the re-matching of an object or person across cameras or separated time intervals.

Re-identification allows tracking systems to extend beyond short-term frame-to-frame continuity and establish longer-term identity consistency. It is especially important in person tracking, retail analytics, campus security, and multi-camera systems. Appearance change, viewpoint variation, and lighting shifts are major challenges. Strong embedding representations are central to this field.
