Oriented Object Detection

A task focused on detecting rotated or tilted objects with angled boxes instead of axis-aligned boxes.

Oriented object detection is important especially in aerial imagery, document analysis, and industrial images. Since objects are not always aligned with the camera axes, axis-aligned boxes may include excessive background and lead to errors. Angled boxes provide more precise location and orientation information. This can yield substantial quality gains, especially in crowded scenes and for thin structured objects.
