Data Minimization

The principle of collecting and processing only the data that is truly necessary for a defined purpose.

Data minimization is one of the foundational principles of data privacy and responsible data management. Just because an organization can collect certain data does not mean it should collect all of it; limiting processing to what is truly necessary for the business purpose is often safer and more sustainable. Excessive data does not only increase storage cost; it also expands security, compliance, and ethical risk. For that reason, minimization should be viewed not as restriction, but as disciplined focus in data strategy.
