Usage Metadata

A type of metadata showing who uses a data asset, how often, and for what purposes.

Usage metadata helps teams understand how much value a data asset is actually generating within the platform. It answers questions such as which table is queried often, which dashboard is actively used, or which feature is consumed in production. This visibility is valuable for cleanup, investment prioritization, and access management. In metadata management, usage information is as strategically important as technical description.
