Speech Emotion Recognition
A task that attempts to infer emotional state by extracting affective acoustic cues from speech.
Speech emotion recognition analyzes not only what is being said, but how it is being said. Intonation, speaking rate, energy, pitch, and pause patterns can all carry emotional cues. It has notable application potential in customer experience, health monitoring, and human-computer interaction. However, it must be interpreted carefully because of cultural variation and context dependence.
