Record Linkage
The process of linking records belonging to the same person, organization, or event across multiple data sources.
Record linkage focuses on determining whether records across different datasets refer to the same entity. It is closely related to entity resolution, but becomes especially prominent in multi-source integration settings. This problem is widespread in healthcare, public-sector, finance, and customer analytics environments. Without strong linkage processes, fragmented data never becomes unified, and enterprise reality remains split across systems. For that reason, record linkage is not just a technical matching task, but a core data integrity problem.
