Mean, Median, and Mode

Fundamental statistical measures that summarize the central tendency of a dataset from different perspectives.

Mean, median, and mode are the most basic summary statistics used to understand the center of a dataset. The mean uses all values and reflects the overall balance, the median represents the middle value and is more robust to outliers, and the mode identifies the most frequently observed value. These three measures do not always tell the same story, and the differences between them often reveal important aspects of the data distribution. In exploratory analysis, they provide a strong starting point for understanding data behavior before modeling begins.
