The normal distribution is one of the most central distributions in statistics and data analysis. It is known for its symmetric bell-shaped curve and can approximate many natural and measurement-driven processes. It also has strong theoretical importance because of the central limit theorem: the sum of many independent effects often approaches normality. Error modeling, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, and standardization procedures frequently rely on this assumption. For that reason, the normal distribution is not just a curve, but a cornerstone of statistical thinking.
