Channel Capacity
The theoretical maximum amount of information that a communication channel can transmit without error.
Channel capacity is a classical but very powerful concept from information theory. It expresses the upper bound on how much information a system can transmit reliably in the presence of noise. Although it originated in communication theory, it has conceptual relevance in representation learning, compression, coding, and some modern machine learning structures. It reminds us that information transfer is not only about quantity, but also about reliability. Channel capacity marks the theoretical ceiling of a system’s information-carrying potential.
