Feature Deprecation Policy

A policy that governs the controlled retirement of feature definitions that are no longer recommended or supported.

A feature deprecation policy is necessary for managing maintenance and complexity as a feature store grows. Removing old features abruptly can break production models or experimentation workflows. For that reason, warning periods, migration plans, version marking, and consumer communication are needed. In mature AI infrastructures, the feature lifecycle includes not only creation and use, but also retirement.
