Exponential Distribution
A continuous distribution used to model the waiting time until an event occurs.
The exponential distribution is widely used to model the waiting time until an event occurs. It is particularly meaningful when events happen independently at a constant average rate. It is notable for its memoryless property: how long one has already waited does not change the expected future waiting behavior. This makes it important for waiting-time analysis and tail behavior. It has a strong place in operations analytics, reliability engineering, and queueing theory.
