Interaction Feature
A combined variable created to capture the joint effect of two or more features.
Interaction features are used to bring into the model the structure created by variables acting together rather than separately. For example, price and promotion status may produce a more meaningful signal when considered jointly. In linear models especially, interaction terms are one of the key ways of capturing limited forms of nonlinearity. This approach requires domain knowledge, because not every pair of features creates a meaningful interaction. When used properly, interaction features can significantly improve both model interpretability and performance.
