Label Ontology

A classification framework that defines the hierarchical, relational, and conceptual structure of labels.

A label ontology shows that labels in complex annotation projects are not merely a flat list of names. It defines which labels are subcategories, which exclude each other, which can co-occur, and where conceptual boundaries begin. A well-designed ontology improves annotation quality and helps the model learn a more coherent structure of the world. Poorly designed label schemas, by contrast, create systematic ambiguity and contradiction in the data.
