Data Catalog

A centralized catalog structure that presents definitions, ownership, usage, and discovery information for enterprise data assets.

A data catalog is used to improve the discoverability and understandability of data assets within an organization. Tables, fields, ownership information, usage notes, quality status, and lineage links can all be brought together in this structure. Without a data catalog, organizations often recreate the same data repeatedly, use the wrong tables, or rely on individual memory for interpretation. Strong catalogs support data democratization not through chaos, but through guided visibility.
