Event Extraction

The task of extracting events, triggers, and participating entities from text in a structured way.

Event extraction goes beyond identifying entities; it aims to understand what happened, when it happened, and which participants played which roles. It is highly valuable in areas such as financial news, security logs, crisis tracking, and biomedical literature. Event representations can form the basis of higher-level decision-support systems. It is one of the most powerful forms of structured text intelligence.
